There are 12 themed weekly entries. Each weekly entry is jam-packed with fun & age- appropriate opportunities to experience God's Word. Based on the Nine Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5, this family Bible study is geared for teaching children ages 3 - 13.
Home Team Summer was created and developed by educator contributors to help older siblings and/or parents guide younger family members and friends
through the fun and engaging lessons, activities, and crafts.
Each week from June to August, a new Home Team Summer entry will be posted to this page.

We Build ourselves for God
Encourage one another and build one another up.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for all the things you give me. Thank you for my family, my safety, and my joy. Thank you for taking care of me. Please help me to be better today than I was yesterday. Help me to learn all that you will be teaching me today about building my heart, my mind, and my spirit for You!
In Jesus Name - Amen.
ourselves according to His Word. This means that He wants us to become people who are focused on Him and filled with His wisdom in our hearts and minds.
We build ourselves for God by building our spirit. Our spirit is the most special part of us because it is what connects us directly to God. Our spirit is part of us like our muscles are part of us. Our muscles are very important and we can build them to be stronger by working out or eating healthy. In a similar way we build our spirit to very strong. We do this with spirit building blocks that God gives us to make our Spirit super strong for Him.
We find these spirit building blocks in the Bible - there are 9 building blocks in all. You need all the wooden blocks to build a big towel - and you need all the spirit building blocks to build a big spirit. You can’t build your spirit strong by using only one or two blocks - you have to use them all to build your spirit big and strong for God.
There are nine important spirit building blocks that God gives us to build ourselves. In the Bible, God calls these special blocks the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5).
Hi Friends, today we will think about the word BUILD.
When we build we create - we make something. When you build with blocks you can make a house or a tower. One block doesn’t make anything, so you have to put many blocks together to build something.
God wants us to be builders - but He doesn’t want us to build a house of blocks - He wants us to build
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
The Fruit of the Spirit building blocks are like exercises that you do in a workout or at PE class. When you learn and do these excercises you build a strong spirit just like when you excercise at PE you build you muscles bigger and stronger. Sometimes doing new excercises is hard. The same is true for spirit building excercises - some may be easy for you and some may be hard but they all are important and needed to build your spirit super strong for God.
PATIENCE is a spirit building excercise that can be a hard one for many of us. Have you ever lost your patience with your little brother or sister because they were bothering you and what they were doing was getting on your nerves? It's ok if that has happened because it happens to almost everybody. But God expects us to be patient with each other especially our little brothers and sisters who love us, need us, and look up to us. So we must build a very big spirit that is super strong so that we always have patience. Just imagine having a spirit so strong that nothing ever gets on your nerves. God made us to have a spirit that strong! Let’s get started and look at what the Bible says about how to BUILD YOUR SUPER STRONG SPIRIT!
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Thank you that you freely give us the ability to be builders of ourselves for you as we believe in Your Son, Jesus. Thank you for giving us spirit building blocks to have a super strong spirit. We need your help every day to become all that you want us to be. Help us to learn all the Fruit of the Spirit so that we can as strong as you created us to be. Show us new ways to share what we have learned with others this week. Holy Spirit give us the power to act on what the Lord shows us.
In Jesus name, we pray all these things.
Activities for Exploring and Growing
There are nine special spirit building blocks God gives us called the Fruit of the Spirit. We use these to build ours Spirit for God and be stronger for Him and closer to Him. The Fruit of the Spirit teach us what God wants us to become and to give.
The Fruit of the Spirit
This month you are going to learn all the Fruit of the Spirit building blocks. In the weeks to come you will focus on one of the building blocks for a whole week to have a deeper understanding. This week we are looking at all them so we can get to know them. We can see them, say them, read them, write them, do them, and think about them in all kinds of ways.
Each has its own color and fruit.
Here are some fun ideas for making Fruit of the Spirit crafts at home.
The goal is to keep God’s wonderful words in your mind all the time - and make beautiful artwork that displays God’s Words to help you remember them and think about them so they become part of you. Have fun creating!
Find rocks around your yard or get some from the garden store. Decorate each rock with a Fruit of the Spirit word. Remember - these words are qualities that God wants us to have in our hearts.
Use non-toxic paint, markers, and/or glitter pens to create beautiful reminders of God’s wonderful words! Place the rocks around your house - in a window sill - or in your garden.
Paper Plate Fruit
Create colorful fruit with paper plates! Use the Fruit of the Spirit chart to guide your designs. Write each Fruit of the Spirit word on the fruit plate you create - make sure you put the right word with the right fruit. You will need paper plates, non-toxic paint and markers, and scissors for this project.
Extra supplies may include: non-toxic glue, glitter and other embellishments. You can hang your fruit on a clothesline with clothespins like the picture shows OR you can put magnetic tape on the back of the plates and stick them to your refrigerator OR you can create a mobile by hanging the plates from yarn attached to a clothes hanger.
Display your plates in a unique way.
