As Americans, we just wrapped up another joyful Fourth of July weekend — a time filled with fireworks, family cookouts, patriotic songs, and celebrations of American freedom. As the red, white, and blue decorations start to come down, it’s worth pausing to reflect on what this holiday means for us as people of faith.

The American experience of freedom aligns beautifully with God's design for living. Scripture reminds us in Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” True freedom — whether personal, spiritual, or national — is a gift from God, meant to be used to love, serve, and build His Kingdom.
When our nation declared independence, it wasn’t just about self-rule; it was about the belief that rights come from our Creator, not from governments. That foundational truth echoes the heart of the Gospel: that each of us is created with purpose, dignity, and the freedom to live fully in God’s love.
This past weekend, as we watched fireworks light up the night sky and sang about the land of the free, we were participating in more than just tradition. We were rejoicing in the ability to worship openly, speak truth boldly, and serve others freely — all under the covering of both civic and spiritual liberty.
Let this post-holiday week be a time of gratitude. We celebrated our independence, yes — but more importantly, we celebrated a God who calls us to live free, and to use that freedom to glorify Him.
Freedom is more than a right. It's a calling. Let’s live it well. God bless America. ❤️🤍💙
